About Us

BTK stands for bring, teach, keep. It is what we believe to be the complete "model" of New Testament evangelism. Each of these roles must operate in harmony to produce sustained congregational growth.

  1. Bring: This is summarized as the "invitation" for people to be introduced to Jesus. This could be a request for them to come to worship, a function of the church, your house for a Bible study, etc. If we don't offer the Gospel to our contacts we fail to begin the saving process which is evangelism.

  2. Teach: This area is solely identified as "instructing the lost with the Word." We acknowledge that we do teach others by example, however, that falls under the bring role because our good works do not teach what one must do to be saved. It is the responsibility of the teacher to use the Bible to lead souls to salvation through Jesus.

  3. Keep: This is the act of rallying around the new Christian to make sure we provide all areas the new babe needs to flourish. This is the missing link in most congregations

So you see, if we don't bring them we cannot teach them. If we bring but don't teach, no one is to be kept. And, if we bring them, teach them, baptize them but don't have a system in place for them to establish themselves within the body, they will leave. Jesus laid this out in its entirety in Matthew 28:18-20:

"All authority has been given to me in Heaven and on earth. Go (bring) therefore into all the world and make disciples (teach) of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you (keep) and lo, I am with you until the end of the age."

The plea of this entire program is "Restoring New Testament evangelism." As seen above, the model has been around and expressed to us since 30 A.D. Satan is evil and ever at work, deceiving us to think all is well at times when it is very obvious it is not!

Workshops

The workshops we present are designed to instruct your flock in all three of these areas, identifying them as individual training grounds. It is not possible for every member of a congregation to possess the abilities of being a teacher who is skilled in walking someone through the Bible in such a way that they see Jesus on the pedestal of their mind. We fear too many people are being converted to baptism, the church or the one instructing them instead of Jesus. Let us remove baptism from the pedestal and place Jesus back where He rightfully belongs.

When presenting workshops, we incorporate a Friday, Saturday and Sunday (class and sermon) to help leadership and the flock gain insights to fight against what Satan has done to our thoughts on evangelism. Here are a couple of snippets from each area:

  1. Bring: Usually, when we offer the Gospel to someone and they say "no" to us, we feel we have failed. We share with you 6 reasons why "no" is a good answer and how we can use it for good! Of course, we desire all yes answers from our gospel offer, but Jesus and the Holy Spirit have already instructed us that it isn't going to be that way. We emphasize the difference between "success and failure" through the eyes of God!

  2. Teach: We share how we use the "timeline of the Bible" as a powerful tool to prove that only Jesus fulfilled every prophecy written about the promised Messiah. We emphasize Gal. 4:4 and show why 30 A.D. was the "Fullness of time."

  3. Keep: We share the training we put ourselves through to establish this area. It is critical that you do not just copy what we did in Waterford MI.! You must use your assets, your members, your situation, your opportunities and areas that work for you. This way you are going to write and develop your own process that works for you! The emphasis is that you customize it to your own needs!

Our schedule is also open for us to come for weeks or months at a time if you feel you need specific training which a weekend will not accomplish.

Materials

It is our intention to have a timeline teacher's manual ready to go to print in the near future. Those who bought and read our book often ask us if we have it for sale yet.

We also want to upload "round table discussions" to this website this year. They will all deal with evangelism. Our elders at Waterford will share how this system of "Restoring New Testament evangelism" has greatly aided our efforts here. We will also focus on the three specific areas, rotating monthly between bringing, teaching and keeping discussions (your congregation may be featured in one of these!). In addition we will have new Christians share the benefits of this system to them personally after they were baptized.

Thank you for your interest in being evangelistic! Our goal is to instruct, train and equip and we do this by making sure as many as want to be evangelistic identify where they are gifted, and train them on how to utilize their gift to the glory of God!
